The Grapefruit Negroni
Grapefruit in cocktails? Oh yeah. Grapefruit has a tart, sweet, strong citrus taste and is ideal for adding a punch of flavor to drinks. It works well with a wide variety of liquors and flavors. I love a good Greyhound, or the classic Paloma, but I was in the mood for something a little more exotic tonight. Something strong, and gin-based. I decided to experiment with a take on the classic Negroni. The trick to this cocktail is to use a real grapefruit, as you will want the bitter rind as well as the juice. A 'Ruby Red' is the best choice.

Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
- 1⁄2 oz campari
- 1 oz fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
- 1 slice grapefruit peel
Directions
- Step 1 Take a slice of grapefruit rind and run the pith side along the inside of an an Old Fashioned. Add the grapefruit peel around the inside of the glass and add a single large ice cube.
- Step 2 Combine the grapefruit juice with the liquors in a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
- Step 3 Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared glass.
